Homeschool Rocks!

Once again the Lord has led us to keep our oldest 3 children home for school. This will be our 3rd year, or second and 1/2 I suppose due to sending them back to school mid year last year. I have to say this is the first time I have been excited to teach them! The first 2 years I felt I was only doing it because God was telling me to. And we were all dragging our feet on that. But this year, I feel we have all gone in with a better attitude. I think that has a ton to do with the fact that the little girls are in preschool 4 mornings a week! I can devote 100% to them instead of chasing around the twin tornadoes while calling out spelling words or math facts. I worked hard on trying to come up with a REALLY fun first day of school and I was pretty happy when they all proclaimed "This was the best first day of school ever!!" (If you know how some of my children have felt about homeschool, you know this is a HUGE deal!)French toast bites made into their grade, quite exciting! ;-) I put together these school survival kits for them and that was our first assignment. They had to fill in the blank with a word from the goodies in the bag. Click to enlarge and see if you can fill in the blanks!
Beautiful Makenna is now in 6th grade, that is just crazy!
Our only boy Sawyer 3rd grade, wearing his "lucky" shirt.
And then we have our big first grader! Isn't she just adorable? I am so thankful that Malaine was able to have Miss Sherman for most of last year because she is SO easy to teach right now! Thanks Amber!
After Goody bags we filled in an All about Me Poster. Bought a huge pack and plan to have them fill them in every year. Wish I had started this before this year.

And this would be a small glimpse of my new book case wall Mark put in for me this weekend that I LOVE having right next to my dining room. So much easier to keep things right by us.

The desk! Don't you just love the black! ;-)

Working Hard!
School Bus cake to end the day. Not that my kids have ever had the pleasure to ride the school bus but they still think they are cool!

So day 1 and even day 2 went really well. Hopefully this will continue, though I promise we are not having cake and candy every day!

You're amazing! I wish I could have been a part of that first day! It looked like a lot of fun. I sure miss seeing those Laxton kids, but am glad you are all enjoying yourselves!
